67. Turn down that job offer.
Out of the many job opportunities you will likely encounter in your life, a very few will be great matches for you. The rest are
throwaways -- jobs that you will quickly leave when a great one comes along.
Remember that great long-term jobs don't come along every few days. (And they almost never appear in the job ads.) So, what's
a talented person to do?
In today's economy, people who are out of work are often confronted with the chance to take on a short-term gig such as a
consulting assignment, a temporary position, or freelance work. Don't look askance at such short-term assignments just because
they're not "real jobs". Such gigs can be wonderful because they provide you with an income while you take time to
survey the landscape to find something you really want to do.
Don't let yourself panic when you're searching for a great job. Turn down that job offer that's less than desirable. Instead,
take advantage of the short-term gig that will give you time to pursue what you really want.
