Date: 3/31/99 Somehow, the gods have smiled upon me. I found this site.
Last Friday, I voluntarily resigned from the Fortune
10 company that has employed me for the past 13 years. I have a BBA with a concentration
in Marketing, and a BA in English. Although I had been moving up the company ladder in a
rapid fashion, the atmosphere in the company had become toxic for me and my recent
position as a District Sales Manager was not personally satisfying. I was being groomed
for a Director's position that I did not want.
So, I took a huge leap of faith and decided to bet on
me instead of letting the company direct my future.
Yesterday, I began my quest and found your Web site
after reading about you in Fast Company magazine. As of noon
today, I had purchased and read your book, as well as
everything on your web site (yes, I am a speed reader). I have also purchased nearly all
of the books you recommended in the ATH Bookstore and will
probably have finished reading all of them by the end of the week.
By using the "library
vacation" and research methods in your book, I have been able to narrow my list
of cities in which to live and also what careers interest me. I am proud to say that I
have accomplished this in just a week's time! I have also used my research to begin to
develop new contacts and resurrect some former ones. I am actually looking forward to
getting on the phone and talking to people or meeting with people to discuss the marketing
field. I never would have thought I would look forward to that.
I just wanted to say thank you for making your
expertise available to all. Even though I am only 2 days into my quest for a better life,
I feel as though I am ahead of many of the other fish. Thank goodness I found your sources
first!
