Best advice for talented students.
Date: 4/20/00

Dear Nick Corcodilos,

Thank you for your articles Breaking Ranks & Rules: How academics can avoid 5 fatal mistakes in the job hunt and The Basics.

I am currently working with extremely talented minority and female math, statistics and computer science majors. Part of my job is to offer career development advice, and to help them find the edge they  need to get past the HR people so they can get in front of the real decision makers and show them their talents.

Yours is the best common sense advice for giving them this edge. I am forwarding the link to asktheheadhunter.com to all my students. Thank you for your assistance and for maintaining this web site.

( I used to work at a large company where it was well known that human resources was nothing but a place to get benefits set up, but hiring was left to staffing services and headhunters. Although HR would never admit this was the case, they had to know it was happening. I appreciate that someone is out there telling the truth to the Internet community.)
